K9 Nose Work 1

Canine Nose Work is an activity where your dog uses its natural sniffing talent to find a determined target odor.  In this course we will introduce the concept of searching using a primary (food or toy) source.  The goals of this class are to develop the dog’s confidence and focus in searching while building handler observation skills and timing.  This class begins with the dog searching for their favorite food or toy to build their independent searching ability and to sharpen the handler’s skills in observation, timing, and leash handling.

K9 Nose Work 2

Progression class for those who have taken the K9 Nose Work 1 class (or a similar class at another location).  This class continues to build on the dog’s foundation skills set for searching for a primary source (food or toy) with the searching criteria and environments growing more complex.  Vehicle, exterior (outdoor), and elevated searches among other topics will be covered in this class.

3

K9 Nose Work 3

Progression class for those who have attended K9 Nose Work 1 and 2 (or similar classes at another location).  This class introduces the first target odor, Birch Odor, used in Canine Nose Work. The concept of pairing (placing the primary source used in the prior classes with the Birch Odor) is introduced which serves to help condition the dog to the odor and to help develop good sourcing through the process of self-rewarding.

K9 Nose Work 4

This class introduces the other target odors of Anise and Clove.  The class is for those dogs who are proficient on the Birch target odor or for those teams who want a refresher on the Anise and Clove Target Odors.  While introducing these 2 target odors, the teams will continue to build skills for searching and observing.
