As a full time certified professional dog trainer, Perry DeWitt brings a special knowledge of dog behavior, training, and learning theory to her agility training and teaching. Although she has been training dogs nearly her whole life and professionally since 2008, Perry became more involved in agility in 2010 when she got her Border Collie-Goose. Since then, she has immersed herself in learning everything she can about the sport.
Perry’s accomplishments with Goose include qualifying for Cynosport every year since 2012. In 2012, Goose was a Steeplechase semifinalist and in 2013 and 2015 he was a semifinalist in both Steeplechase and Grand Prix. Goose earned his ADCh in 2013, when he was 3 years old. In 2015 he took second place in Grand Prix at the New England Regional. Goose knows numerous tricks and has been featured in commercials and print ads.
In 2013, Perry purchased her second Border Collie Verb. Perry has grown as an agility handler since she started training Verb. In 2015 Verb won Steeplechase semi-finals and finals at USDAA Cynosport making him a national champion at only 2 years old! In 2016 Verb won Grand Prix at both the Mid Atlantic regional and the New England Regional! Perry and Verb also won Steeplechase at the Mid Atlantic Regional. Verb earned his ADCh at 3 years old in 2016. In addition to his winnings in the United States, Verb traveled to Finland with Perry.
Together they earned half of the certificates needed to become a Finnish Agility/Jumping champion in just 2 weekends of competition! Verb attended AKC World Team Tryouts in 2016 and qualified for 2017 AKC Nationals. He also qualified for the US Open in 2015 and 2016.
In 2016, after attending many seminars and studying and training in the One Mind Dogs methodology, Perry was named a One Mind Dogs assistant coach. She has trained with numerous One Mind Dog coaches including OMD founder Janita Leinonen. Perry is happiest when she is learning, or when she is helping a student gain One Mind Dog training knowledge.
