Foundation Handling

Using the Linda Mecklenburg’s APHS, students learn to handle different sequences with their dog. This class teaches balancing your cues to give the right information for the drill. Challenges may include, but are not limited to: 270s, discriminations, the “back” and “switch” commands and teaching the “out”. Dogs must be working on all equipment except weaves.

Prerequisites

Dog/Handler must be able to perform the 3 basic recalls over a jump.

Dog/Handler can demonstrate a Front Cross with proper form (cues) & function.

Dog demonstrates strong understanding of contact criteria.

Dog safely performs spread jumps.

Demonstrate proper use of handling cues with the ability to differentiate between turning and forward cues.
